Paris Qi Gong Journal : Belleville and Rue Dénoyez

one hour of Qi Gong in Buttes Chaumont, where new oxygen to the body brings a fresh perspective to the color of the leaves in this generous park, which touches Jourdain or upper Belleville.  After, I wander through a few small streets and descend the main street of the same name, down to the lower quartier or district.

at the bottom of the hill, to the left, I find Rue Dénoyez, a place for re-invention, and creativity? And what is the difference between this and any other spot for graffiti artitsts, or as some with a certain perspective would say, defacing thugs?

the focus and attention on this ever-changing landscape of new murals on a weekly basis; strollers, photographers, tourists, neighoborhood people impede the possibility of this place becoming a crack alley.

this spot is yards away from Metro station Belleville.  this illustrious-sounding corner of four arrondissements is so central to various forms of Asian mafia businesses, from prostitution to grocery stores with illegally-imported cashiers who work an exorbitant number of hours...where midle-aged men, sometimes native French, or North African, inspect random Asian women coming out of the Metro to see if they are available for hire.  one finds also a multitude of non-mafia business, every kind of Asian or North African and middle eastern grocery store or restaurant, traditional hallal butchers, considered more healthy by their technique.

but this spot remains a neighborhood place, where you can have a drink or a meal next to a mural, you can just rest and become part of the neighborhood yourself...

some say why write about the sordid and the sad?  never to glorify the sordid or make light of sad stories, but all these residents of Belleville are orchids and roses of my Belleville garden.  Children play, adults stop to gossip, have a cup of coffee; they live and work.
